Lee Coleman is the majority owner and Managing Partner of Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers. He co-founded the firm in 1985 with J. Marshall Hughes and has played a central role in its growth from a small practice into a regional personal injury law firm with multiple offices across Kentucky, Tennessee, and affiliated operations in other states.
He has over 30 years of legal experience focused on personal injury litigation, courtroom advocacy, and firm operations. Early in his career, he served as a prosecutor in Warren County, Kentucky, where he tried approximately 50 jury trials before moving into private practice.
At Hughes & Coleman, he was originally responsible for litigation and courtroom strategy, including trial work and case development in personal injury matters. Over time, his focus expanded into firm-building, marketing strategy, and long-term operational growth.

Hughes & Coleman became one of the first law firms in its region to use television advertising for personal injury cases. The firm later challenged restrictions on legal advertising language, contributing to broader changes in how law firms were permitted to describe their services.

M&L was created as a private, invite-only peer group for personal injury law firm owners and senior operators. The goal was to create a forum where mid-market firms could openly discuss marketing performance, operational challenges, and business strategy without competitive constraints.
The group meets twice a year and includes approximately 120 personal injury law firm leaders.
M&L is structured as a peer-driven group rather than a speaker-led conference. Lee Coleman’s role is centered on facilitating and maintaining the environment that allows operators to share openly and learn from one another.

Lee Coleman lives in Kentucky and has three sons, including two who practice law and one who is a physician. He is married to retired Warren District Court Judge Hon. JoAnn Spinks Coleman.
